Eagle Tour with Sandy Long

Eagle watching season is underway in the Upper Delaware River region as these magnificent birds ply open waterways in search of winter sustenance.

Join Heron’s Eye Communications co-founder, Sandy Long, as well as members of the Delaware Highlands Conservancy staff on Saturday, February 3rd from 10am-2pm for a special bus tour and workshop with eagle watching, sightseeing, and photography instruction.

Participants will eagle watch while enjoying a scenic drive on a heated bus. We will also learn about eagles in our region, how they returned from the brink of extinction, and the habitat they need to thrive.

As we travel from our starting point in Milford, PA to additional stops at the Mongaup Reservoir and Visitor’s Center in Lackawaxen, PA, Sandy will share tips on photographing eagles and their habitat, as well as other species with which we share our lives here.

We will explore how to enhance our images of this powerful raptor as we consider how our own lives and well-being are interrelated with theirs.

The Conservancy’s Land Protection Associate Avery Siler will give a brief presentation on art history and the conservation movement, and the Conservancy’s Outreach and GIS Coordinator Jason Zarnowski will share educational videos and provide information about the Conservancy’s important work related to eagles.

Photo Contest

Bus tour participants are invited (but not required) to submit their photos to the Conservancy’s winter 2018 photo contest, Sharing Space: Eagles and Their Environs. Complete contest rules are available on the Conservancy’s website.
